Step 1: measure the section size第一步:量截面尺寸
Section size = (stuffing-box bore − shaft or stem diameter) ÷ 2. Typical sizes are 3 mm to 25 mm. Measure the actual shaft; worn shafts need a larger section or a repair.

Step 3: install correctly第三步:正确安装
- Clean the stuffing box and check the shaft for wear and scoring.清理填料函,检查轴有无磨损和划痕。
- Cut rings square and stagger the joints by 90°.盘根切口要平整,相邻圈接口错开 90°。
- Seat each ring individually before adding the next.每放一圈都压实,再放下一圈。
- Tighten the gland evenly, then loosen and re-tighten finger-tight and adjust slowly while running.压盖均匀拧紧,再松开改手紧,运转时再缓慢调整。

How many packing rings do I need?需要几圈盘根?
Usually 4 to 6 rings fill a standard stuffing box. Divide the box depth by the section size to estimate, then leave room for the gland.标准填料函一般放 4–6 圈。用填料函深度除以截面尺寸估算,并为压盖留出空间。
Why does my packing leak or burn the shaft?盘根为什么漏或烧轴?
Common causes: over-tightened gland (too much heat), wrong material for the medium or speed, worn shaft or sleeve, or joints not staggered. A slight controlled drip is normal for pump packing.常见原因:压盖拧得过紧发热、材质与介质或转速不匹配、轴或轴套磨损、接口未错开。泵用盘根允许有轻微可控的滴漏。
